Frequently Asked Questions
If you've ever racked your brain trying to figure out how to get your child to practice (or more than they are)...enter KidStrings Box. Our lessons have been carefully crafted by a team of educators (and parents!) who understand how to motivate and inspire.
We are the one-stop-shop for a fun way to learn how to practice and actually enjoy doing it. What's not to love about that?
This box is designed for the young string musician who has been studying their instrument for three years or less, ideally between about 8 and 17 years old. (But we've also had some beginner adults buy it for themselves, too. The secret is safe with us. ;-)
Each month's box has a theme: for example, our first box was Tchaikovsky and the music of The Nutcracker. We include fun facts about the music and the composer, as well as a tiered lesson that meets your musician at their skill and ability level. In addition, we include 2-3 accessories for their specific instrument, 1-2 fun items related to the month's theme to use right off the bat, AND a one-of-a-kind t-shirt to show off at school and with friends. And always another surprise or two, of course!
We ship all boxes on the 15th of each month (if the 15th lands on a Sunday or holiday, we ship the next day). If we receive your order after our cutoff date (the 14th of every month), your first box will be the following month. For example: if you order on December 17th, your first box will ship January 15. If you order December 12, your first box will ship December 15.
First off, Congratulations to your child for choosing such an awesome instrument! Yes, this box will work well to motivate your child, teach them all about their instrument, and help educate them on the string music repertoire. Each lesson has three levels, so it works for beginners who have never played, on up to those who have been playing for a while!
And by the way, make sure to check out our Strings Essentials box. It includes everything your new musician will need to take care of and maintain their instrument. And no annoying errands for mom or dad to the violin shop to get "that one other thing" their strings teacher has asked for. You're welcome.
Ideally each sibling should have their own box, as each box is designed to be used by one person. In fact, each month's box will often include accessories that may have a specific size just for the recipient.
No, not at all. If your child takes lessons currently, they will be able to use the tips and techniques right away, and if all goes like it should, the learning will actually accelerate. If your child doesn't have a private teacher, then you will quickly find that the educational materials we have included can be self-directed as well as work with classroom goals.
Rest assured, I am a string teacher myself, and I developed this Box in consultation with respected private teachers, classroom teachers, and education professionals from across the country.
Boxes will ship out on the 15th of the month and will deliver in the first half of that particular month. Boxes going to Hawaii, Alaska, or APO/FPO/DPO addresses may take longer transit times.
We ship for free within the US. $7 USD/box for Canada orders.
